The McFly drummer and his partner Joanne Clifton lifted the Silver Star trophy after picking up a perfect 40 from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli, for their American Smooth to ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’.

However, they had stiff competition from series six winner Tom Chambers and his partner Oti Mabuse, whose Charleston to ‘Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town’ also scored full marks.

After being crowned winner when the judges’ scores were combined with votes cast by the studio audience, Harry told hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman: “It’s amazing, thank you so much everyone.

"I had the most amazing time and I just want to dedicate this to Joanne who has been an incredible teacher and an incredible dancer. Thank you and Happy Christmas!”

“I want to say a massive thank you to him for being such a great dancer, partner, student and friend – he has made this experience such great fun for me. I am glad he can take home the Silver Star trophy and show his baby when it is born in January!”

Other stars who also returned for the show included 2013 champ Abbey Clancy, whose Waltz with Brendan Cole to ‘When I Fall in Love’ scored 39, and series six finalist Lisa Snowdon, whose Quickstep with Pasha Kovalev to ‘Let it Snow’ earned them a respectable 37.
