Newsnight presenter Evan Davis accidentally gave Labour's shadow foreign secretary a new nickname on Wednesday evening - not that he could remember doing it.
Introducing a pre-recorded interview with Hilary Benn, Davis told viewers: "A little earlier, I spoke to the shadow foreign secretary, Hilary Big Benn."

As the interview played out, Newsnight staff apparently told Davis what he had said. "The people upstairs said when I introduced that item I said 'Hilary big Benn'," he said after the segment had finished. "I don't remember saying that, but he is a very tall guy."
