The Sun has claimed talks are currently on-going between both camps, with a source stating: "Ed has always wanted to do Glasto, it’s been a huge ambition.

"He’s one of the biggest artists in the world, and British, so bosses are desperate to book him."

Sadly for festival-goers, there’s a long wait ahead until Michael and Emily Eavis officially announce who will follow in the footsteps of this year’s headliners Muse, Adele and Coldplay

However, bookies are already taking bets on who it will be

So far, legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses are the favourites to top the bill in 2017, while KasabianRadiohead and Stone Roses are also hotly-tipped.

Foo Fighters could also return to the stage after having to pull out of their headline slot in 2015.
