While regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on their annual summer leave, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes will take over at the helm of the show, leaving their usual presenting spot on a Friday open.
It has now been confirmed that James and Anita will team up to front the final show of the week throughout the summer, starting this Friday (22 July).
James first fronted the show earlier this year, following his much-publicised departure from ‘Saturday Kitchen’, and admitted shortly afterwards that he’d be keen to return in the future.
He says: “It’s such a privilege to be asked back to do it again, I have a great time there.”
Admitting he is feeling a little nervous, he continues: “It can be nerve-wracking at times because you’re always a little unsure about what could happen next!
“I can handle the food items and talk about that no problem, but to go from such light and shade topics… it’s one of the toughest gigs in television without a shadow of a doubt and you realise what pros they are that do this job. But I’ll do my best, as that’s all I’ve done for the last 20 years.”
An excited Anita - best known for her presenting on ‘Countryfile’, as well as the most recent series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ - says: “I’m so excited to be joining the fantastic team at ‘This Morning’. What a brilliant way to spend Fridays over the summer.”
Catch the new duo in action in the first show, this Friday at 10.30am on ITV.
