The 2017 MTV Video Awards are almost upon us, airing on Sunday 27 August, and it is bound to bring a whole host of ensembles we won’t ever forget. Even if we wanted to.

While we’re waiting with bated breath for the celebs’ latest red carpet looks, what better time to take a look back through VMAs very questionable style past.

The annual awards ceremony is known for drawing in some of the most outrageous outfits ever seen - so out there, in fact, that it’s even credited for the birth of the ‘naked dress’ back in the 90s.
