A Vote for Me Today Is a Vote for Hope Over Fear

There is a choice at this election. London is the greatest city in the world, but we're at a crossroads. Londoners can vote for a candidate who will fight for ordinary citizens, or they can vote for four more years of the same. They can vote for hope and diversity, or they can vote for fear.

London is at a crossroads. Today, voters across our city have a choice on the future of our city.

I'm asking them to choose hope over fear. To choose a Mayor for all Londoners and a city where everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Londoners are living through the worst housing crisis in a generation. Prices have never been higher and the average cost of a home in the capital is now over half a million pounds. Affordable home building is at its lowest level since 2008, the number of people sleeping rough has doubled under the last Mayor, and more and more Londoners are being forced to move out of their own city.

A vote for me today will be a vote for change.

I grew up on a council estate, my dad was a bus driver. With hard work, my parents were able to save up and buy a house for our family. I want all Londoners to have the same opportunities I had, that enabled me to get where I am today.

If I am elected, my single biggest priority will be to build thousands more homes every year. I will set a target to ensure that half of all new homes that are built are genuinely affordable. Two million Londoners now live in private rented accommodation. I will create a London Living Rent, where rents are based on a third of average local wages, and create a London-wide not-for-profit agency for good landlords, and end rip-off fees for renters.

In the last eight years, London fares have gone up by 50%. Our transport system is bursting at the seams, and many Londoners face a nightmare commute every day. If I am elected Mayor, I will freeze London transport fares for four years and create 'The Hopper' - a bus ticket that will allow unlimited changes within one hour.

I will be the Mayor who tackles the cost-of-living crisis for ordinary Londoners.

By 2030 London's population is set to reach ten million. I will be the Mayor who provides real leadership for transport schemes such as the extension of the Bakerloo line, Crossrail 2, and the desperately needed river crossings in East London.

Every year 10,000 Londoners die because of poor air quality. As someone with adult-onset asthma, I know how serious this issue has become. I want to be the greenest Mayor London has ever had, getting rid of the filthiest vehicles from our roads, and setting ambitious targets on green buses.

There is a choice at this election.

London is the greatest city in the world, but we're at a crossroads. Londoners can vote for a candidate who will fight for ordinary citizens, or they can vote for four more years of the same. They can vote for hope and diversity, or they can vote for fear.

Today, I'm asking you to vote for me. So that I can be a Mayor for all Londoners.
