Bestselling and critically-acclaimed author from The Netherlands

Jessica Durlacher is a bestselling and critically-acclaimed author from The Netherlands. She has written short stories, novella’s and novels – including Conscience, The Daughter, and Hero. She also translated Maus 1 and 2, the Pulizer prize-winning graphic novel on the Holocaust by Art Spiegelman, into Dutch. All of her novels have been translated into German and other languages. In most of her books the Holocaust is a constant factor influencing the psychology of her protagonists. Durlacher’s father was the author Gerhard Durlacher (1928-1996), whose literary work was defined by his childhood years in Auschwitz. Hero, Durlacher’s most recent novel, is currently being made into a motion picture with actress Famke Janssen in the lead. Michael Horsten, who co-wrote the successful TV-series The Killing, has written the screenplay. Durlacher is married to Leon de Winter. They have two children and following a three year stay in Los Angeles they now live in The Netherlands.
