The yoga mat is your sacred space, your playground for learning. In this arena we're all students and teachers. In fact as a teacher facilitating the class, I find my students are the best teachers as I learn the most from them. We're all equal and I do my best to channel the ancient teachings of yoga to my best ability.

Sometimes getting your goals out of your mind and onto a page, where you can see them, can really help you get things done. Not only does it provide a visual aid but it can actually help de-clutter your mind. Being able to physically tick things off your list offers a sense of achievement too.

Someone's always asked about what I put in my smoothies and why they're beneficial. I like using seasonal ingredients and to be honest, when it's freezing cold, the last thing I want to guzzle is a smoothie, regardless of how mouth watering it is! So I'm back on them and praying for the sun to shine more often being the new season.

Lately, I've had all kinds of run-ins from participants who have illustrated to me common perceptions, ideas and beliefs about a 'proper yoga teacher'. So what exactly is a yoga teacher really supposed to look or behave like!? If it's already accumulated a label, surely, that's taking away the whole ethos of 'yoga' itself.

If you're fairly unfit, build up the intensity and frequency of exercise over a period of time. Do not go mad in the first few weeks, try and pace yourself and you will be surprised at how quick you can go from a beginners level into intermediate.

Meditation is not always a discipline which needs to be practiced solely in a seated, upright posture. From experience, the mind can be silent in the noisiest shopping mall or the loudest party. This does not mean we just miraculously stop thinking. It is almost impossible to completely curb our thoughts, even for a regular practitioner of meditation.
