David Cameron Launches New Campaign To Put The 'Great' Back Into Great Britain

David Cameron is launching a new drive to put the 'great' back into Great Britain.

The government want to promote Britain as a top tourism and business destination ahead of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics.

They hope that the new GREAT campaign will attract four million visitors.

The prime minister, launching the campaign from New York said: "In 2012 there will be only one place to be. With the Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to London next summer, the greatest show on earth is about to arrive in one of the world’s greatest cities."

"This campaign is simple. There are so many great things about Britain and we want to send out the message loud and proud that this is a great place to do business, to invest, to study and to visit," he said.

The Departure for Culture, Media and Sport has released new marketing material to support the campaign. Take a look at the slideshow below and let us know your views in the comments.

I see they omitted food and local climate, for some reason...?
All jokles aside - UK is a great country. For visitors as well as for inhabitants.
Long may she live.

Tourism is NOT Great Britain. Greatness sells itself, the tourist trade is for losers.

If greatness sells itself, Britain doesn't have much stock. I found it slightly amusing that most if not all of the images used are from one part of the allegedly United Kingdoms... nothing Welsh, Irish or Scottish there. This whole thing looks like an ad campaign for the English Tourist Board. Shame on DC for being unable to use the word 'England.'
The tourist industry in all pats of this wee island sustains a lot of jobs one way or another and the people in those jobs might tend to disagree with you too.

Silicon Fern's urban sprawl continues to press up again my beautiful English countryside, which works out well for me as I'm a medical researcher, we have industries that pay very well, but they require years and years of schooling.

Tourism is what people with no talent sell as it's the only thing they have - it keeps the little communities that should of shrivelled up and died decades ago alive...ensuring politicians, laughable small businesses, and land lords keep their jobs....

Nice move, Mr. Cameron. Especially since it was Mrs. Thatcher who put the tunc back into country.

Nonsense... Margaret the Great turned around a miserable backward socialist UK that was in steep decline in the 70's.

I cannot believe you're a European and you don't know this.

It's a bit more complicated, Flossy dear. But it doesn't sound like you're open to persuasion this morning.

Some of the unions shamelessly abused their power, but they were matched by the incompetence of management and unimaginative government.

Neither the centrally planned welfare state nor the free market appear to serve us well on their own. We need a judicious mix.

Take the NHS, for example - perhaps our most "socialist" instution. Having created several business in the UK, and elsewhere, I think it is the single most important factor supporting the formation of UK businesses. Why? because it means new business owners simply don't have to think about the cost of healthcare for themselves or their employees so they see business-creation as a good option.

Get the mix right and socialism helps capitalism thrive and capitalism provides the cash to make socialism possible. Win-win - the essence of all good business.

Please, I know people who lived though the 1970s, they are all pretty much in agreement than things are much worse now than they were then.

America sold the world a bill of goods, advocating for the WORTHLESS common man to have a shot at the good life, instead of warehousing them in subsidized housing, assigning them to menial jobs, and promptly forgetting they exist.

What part of the word WORTHLESS do you not understand? The petite bourgeois(that's small business owners for the uneducated) exist to serve themselves, so why the hell do we need you again?

I have better things to do than to watch American neo-liberal propaganda. Your think tanks make the soviet-era Pravda appear truthful.

Great Britain is gonna have to do a whole lot more than print posters to turn around their socialized decline.
