Fans of axed BBC show Doctor Who Confidential have reacted with anger on Twitter, with one even claiming it's the "end of my life."

BBC bosses have decided to end the popular spin-off programme because of budget cuts.

Doctor Who Confidential became a firm favourite with Doctor Who fanatics, who were given a chance to see behind-the-scenes of the show.

Charlie McDonnell who appears on the show tweeted: "Really sad to hear that Doctor Who Confidential has been axed. I had a lot of fun working on that show :(."

The response from fans ranged from anger, to disbelief, to despair. One fan said: "Bad bad mistake Beeb!" While another said: "They've cancelled Doctor Who Confidential? No. NO. NOOOOO.

"I am very annoyed. VERY annoyed. Can't they cancel Doctors instead?"

Where as others just seemed stunned: "BBC3 has axed Doctor Who Confidential as part of budget cuts. Our thoughts: Can it be that expensive to make?"

Another tweeted: "Just found out BBC cancelled doctor who confidential. end my life"

"Doctor Who Confidential has been cancelled! Gutted! Is this proof that Doctor Who is no longer bullet proof in the eyes of the Beeb?" said a questioning fan.

A spokeswoman for the BBC said: "Doctor Who Confidential has been a great show for BBC3 over the years but our priority now is to build on original British commissions, unique to the channel."

Even though it's gone there's still a chance to enjoy some of the best bits in our slideshow below.

I think it will be more worth their while if they axe something like Eastenders. I never watch that sort of crap anyway.

I never watched it as I feel it kind of ruins the magic but there are other more pointless shows that could be cancelled. Lee Nelson's Well Good Show, Two Pints, need I go on?

About time! In my day, the mystery of how daleks propelled about kept us in awe, not knowing how the props team managed it.

Well as an American I don't really care because they don't show Doctor Who Confidential on BBC America anyway.

Rory was boring. But Amy is sofa king hot. I just love little redheads.

I don't watch Confidential, but really, how much cheaper could other shows possibly be? It's just documenting a series that's already going on. Is the other shows going to gain more viewership or ad revenue than a storied franchise like Doctor Who?

dont they watch their own programmes? this weeks Dragons Den had a wedding video business that hired out tv quality cameras. but seriously, its an interesting series, it shows just how much work goes into each episode, and often its surprising. maybe its just so they have extra stuff to put on the inevitable dvd releases...
