VIDEO: Gorgeous Southern Lights From Space
Mesmerising footage of Southern Lights or Aurora Australis is captured by cameras aboard the International Space Station.
These green glowing lights producing a throbbing halo effect around the earth are from Madagascar to Northern Australia, in contrast to the more famous Aurora Borealis seen in the Northern Hemisphere.
The lights are produced by high speed collisions of protons, atoms, and molecules drawn by the Earth's magnetic field into the upper atmosphere. The splendour of such displays were attributed to the dancing of the gods by Austrialian aboriginals.
