The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that they have launched a formal investigation into the conduct of John Terry during last weekend's Premiership match against QPR.
The England captain is accused of racially abusing Ranger's defender Anton Ferdinand.
Terry has categorically denied the accusation.
According to the police, a complaint was made from a member of the public, following video replays from Loftus Road that show Terry using racist language.
A statement from the Met read: "Police were notified of an incident on Sunday October 23 involving alleged racial abuse. This is currently being investigated by officers from Hammersmith and Fulham."

The Football Association has confirmed they are also investigating the incident.
