Charles And Camilla Bust Some Moves In Zanzibar (Pictures)

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have shown off some dance moves on the island of Zanzibar.

They are in Tanzania as part of an eight-day Commonwealth tour, and wherever they go, they are greeted with traditional singing and dancing.

Charles was first to take centre stage to groove along to a tune played on a zumari, similar to the instrument snake-charmers use, and Camilla soon followed.

Clutching her white parasol, she swayed her hips to the music, while a Zanzibari woman wrapped a yellow, red and black khanga shawl around her.

The couple did the impromptu dance - called the chapauringe - in the searing heat within the walls of the Old Fort in Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar.

Charles and Camilla flew to the idyllic isle, which is a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, from the country's major commercial city, Dar es Salaam.

Moments after her exertions on the makeshift dancefloor, the Duchess had to go and sit down in a private room as she struggled with the heat.

Just inside the entrance to the House of Wonders, Zanzibar's national museum, a flustered-looking Camilla began repeatedly dabbing perspiration off her face with a handkerchief.

Royal aides blocked photographers from taking pictures as she was led upstairs away from the throng surrounding the royal party. When she rejoined the tour five minutes later, she still looked disorientated and aides pushed back the media to give her some space. But after another few minutes she had recovered her zest.

With sweat dripping down her back, she showed off a smudged henna tattoo she had had done in the fort. Appearing to blame the smudging on the heat, she said: "It's ruining my tattoo. I'm so cross."

A senior royal aide said: "She's OK. She just needed a sit down for five minutes. She's struggling with the heat, like everyone."

Clearly the royal handlers made a mistake - everyone knows that after exercise, the Duchess should have been walked around and allowed to cool off in the normal manner.

Uncalled for and cruel. Camilla did nothing except be the long -time lady of preference to Charles. A no win situation. His great uncle who abdicated for "the woman he loved" was long reviled in the major British circles and considered a "weakling". The whole royalty deal is ridiculous and it seems ok to be a rebel unless you are "heir to the throne." Charles did his duty with Diana and British and American fans ate it up. It was a tragedy for Diana because she was a normal young woman, not a princess (whatever that means).
