Black Friday might sound American, but shoppers, Cyber Monday is here and it's very British.
Cyber Monday coincides with the last pay day before Christmas for many of us, and it lands today with great tech bargains across the net from Currys and PC World to voucher sites.
Traders estimate that today could see their biggest daily sales all year, as we bash our credit cards to get online shopping done before some awful snow storm traps all our Christmas gadgets in a South Yorkshire distribution warehouse, as happened last year.
Andrew Blake from money saving website ILoveCashback said: “Black Friday is traditionally a US phenomenon when people began their Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving, now it’s crept into the UK. I predict Cyber Monday will be the big internet shopping day and kick off the bargain hunting, when people start to receive their pay cheques."
Currys and PC World are predicting a record breaking biggest online shopping day of the year, with offers on until midnight tonight.
Their reductions include iPads, Xbox Kinect, Dr Dre Beats headphones, large screen TVs - the new alternative to gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Anina Castle from Dixons said: “Last year we saw visitors to our websites increase by around 15% on Cyber Monday. This year we are predicting an increase of up to 25% across the whole weekend as canny customers prepare for Christmas by seeking out online bargains.”
