Twitter Jokes Of The Day: Thursday 1 December 2011

If there's one thing Twitter likes more than jokes, it's a hate figure... that we can make jokes about.

And today, it was the turn of Jeremy Clarkson. Clarkson's comment about the public sector strikers led not only to threats of legal action by Unison, but far, far worse than that: lots of hilarious jokes being made about him in under 140 characters.

So, on the day we all opened our advent calendars - well, it's what World Aids Day is all about, isn't it? - Huffington Post UK Comedy presents its round-up of today's funniest tweets so far. With an honorable mention going to @IanMartin - whose questions to @Number10Gov this morning were a delight to behold.

We could take a lesson from some of these people in channeling our anger and frustration into something a bit more positive, like making a joke out of the whole situation.
