Tian Tian and Yang Guang Pandas Set For Edinburgh Zoo Arrival

Panda-monium As Special Delivery Makes Its Way To Snowy Scotland

Tian Tian and Yang Guang, two giant pandas from China, are due to arrive in Scotland on Sunday - just in time for the snow.

It is hoped the pair will boost tourism and the economy after arriving - rockstar-style - by private jet.

The rare animals were being delivered by FedEx son a specially chartered Boeing 777F flight, dubbed the "FedEx Panda Express"

On board the flight will also be a veterinarian and two animal handlers from the Edinburgh Zoo and the Bifengxia Panda Base.

The eight-year-old breeding pair are destined for the city's zoo, where they will stay for at least 10 years.

They will be the first giant pandas to live in the UK for 17 years.

The arrival date - which coincides with the Scottish First Minister's visit to China - had been kept under wraps until earlier this week.

Tian Tian, meaning "sweetie", and Yang Guang, meaning "sunlight", were born in 2003.
