3D Street Art: Eduardo Relero's Amazing Optical Illusions

3d Art

There are few things less inspiring than a drab, gray pavement, which is why most of us tend to look up when we're walking the streets. Well, that and to avoid hitting a lamp post.

But go anywhere that Eduardo Relero has roamed and the opposite is likely to apply. The 3D street artist from Argentina has created optical illusions around the globe that include giant feet sticking out of gaping holes in the ground and ancient figures lying in tombs that are actually just the tops of public benches.

The 48-year-old began his painting career on the streets of Rome in 1990 and has since gone on to create breathtaking murals in Germany, France, Spain and America.

For some examples of the street art that makes Banksy looks positively unambitious, click on the gallery below.

I love this. OK I don't know much about art, but to me this is both imaginative and exceptionally skillful.

It's a true gift to be born that talented! and I like how he adds humour to his art.. which not many artists do.

I can never get enough of this kind of art. It's so accessible. It's art for the people. It's fun. You don't need some snooty art critic to tell you whether it's good or not.

It's blows my mind how art can transform (any) space... it's affect on the senses is magical.
Besides the beauty, art can create, it can alter our attitude and our mood. Truly amazing!

Welcome to 5 years ago Huffpo!!!

These aren't that spectacular, seen worse - seen a lot better. Here's a quick google that you can peruse for some less "hearty" stuff (pun intended): http://www.google.com/search?um=1&hl=en&safe=strict&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7GGLL_en&w=448&h=600&sig=112223076946617919320&tbm=isch&q=3d+sidewalk+art&sa=X&ei=mrHpTr7UH-rC2wWM3bGrCA&ved=0CAcQoAEoATAA&biw=1582&bih=806

Here's one I saw recently and looked so cool I thought it might've been digital: http://hackedirl.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/epic-win-photos-chalk-art-win.png

I've been selling portraits semi-professionally since my student days - to achieve that kind of perspective on such a large scale is simply astonishing.

Absolutely remarkable.
