Mother Dies Walking Home From Christmas Party

A mother of two young children was killed when she was hit by a vehicle while walking home from a Christmas party.

Lisa Suddart, 31, had enjoyed the celebration in Cockermouth, Cumbria, before leaving and going home to Seaton.

She was walking along the A66 Stainburn bypass in Workington, when she was struck at around 12.40am early on Sunday while crossing the road, Cumbria Police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver stopped at the scene but the force did not say whether the motorist was arrested.

They would not release details of the vehicle.

The woman's family paid tribute to her and Cumbria Police appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Her family issued a statement describing her as a great person.

They said: "Lisa was full of life, with time for anyone and was always there - truly a great person.

"A hard-working, fun-loving, practical joker who truly was the best mum in the world, she will be missed by everyone that knew her."
