The 'Fertility Wand' That Could Double Your Chances Of Getting Pregnant

Could A Magic Wand Be The Key To Getting Pregnant?

A ‘fertility wand’ that could double the chances of women getting pregnant, has been developed by scientists.

The new treatment, which works by ‘scratching’ the lining of the womb, has shown promising results in trials.

The pregnancy success rate among women undergoing IVF who had the treatment was 32.7% compared to 13.7% for those who hadn’t had the procedure.

It is believed that a poor quality womb lining may be a significant contributing factor to infertility rates. However, research has shown that slight damage to the womb lining can have a positive effect.

An Israeli study found that women who had undergone a uterine biopsy where tissue was taken from the lining of the womb had almost twice the rate of pregnancies and births as a control group that had no damage to their womb lining, it was reported in the Daily Mail.

Putting this theory to the test, 100 women who had previously been unable to conceive through IVF, were given the new treatment, which involves a long plastic tube being inserted into the womb and rotated to scratch the lining.

The results showed the pregnancy rate in the treated group was more than double that of those who had had no treatment.

The findings are published in the Journal of Human Reproduction Sciences.
