Portsmouth Crown Court

A woman and four men have been jailed for their part in an international paedophile ring which committed "horrific" crimes against two young children in the UK and one in Australia.

Ringleader Robert Hathaway, 37, of Tyseley Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, was given an indeterminate sentence of 12 years at Portsmouth Crown Court while his partner Melissa Noon, 30, received four years.

Judge Roger Hetherington told Hathaway he would not be released from prison for a minimum of six years and not until the parole board deemed him no longer to be a danger to children.

The three other defendants became involved by meeting the couple over the internet to carry out the abuse.

Stephen Fraser, 42, of Hemingford Road, Cambridge, was sentenced to four years with an extended licence period of six years; Simon Hilton, 29, of Wolsey Road, north London, was imprisoned for four years with an extended licence period of six years; and Lee Parson, 38, of Arundel Street, Portsmouth, was jailed for three years.

A six-week trial heard that the two young children in the UK were repeatedly abused by the group, who used a nudist website as a guise for their perversions.

Hampshire Police launched their investigation into the ring after being tipped off by the authorities in Australia, who had uncovered a "mirror image" ring in Brisbane and Sydney which also abused at least one young child.

Hathaway had been in contact with this ring and shared images with them and one of the charges faced by Noon was for encouraging the Australian child to engage in sexual activity.

Passing sentence, Judge Hetherington said: "This is a case about cruelty to two children, physical cruelty in the sense each was subjected to physical acts which had no place in ordinary childhood development."

All the defendants were ordered to sign the sex offenders register and the judge ordered all the computer and photographic equipment used in the abuse to be forfeited and destroyed.

As it was all on computer ,it would be easy for a "hacker" to find out all those that logged on to it.The police will look but not all names found will be released or charged. Some will be police officers, judges, even senior govt officials,it will be "ordinary people "( though ordinary people dont watch this ) will be charged.

This is the problem with our justice system, the small fish get away with it, as they only want to catch the ringleaders.
If you commit a crime, not matter how small, you should be punnished accordingly.

NO sentence is enough punishment for abuse of a child.
This is why we should still have the death sentence.

Their victims are scarred for life and will probably never be able to be happy or lead a normal life again. These people are selfish. We all get urges to do things which are wrong or selfish, good people resist the temptation. It would be great to thow a brick through a noisy neighbour's window, but to sexually molest anyone, especially children, for your own sexual gratification shows a callous cruel streak. Repay them by letting others do as they wish with them and see how they like it.

The worst thing about these crimes is, it probably wasnt for their own pleassure why they did it.
You will probably find it was to make money from, which is even worse.
I also agree that others should have free reign to do as they wish to these people. Starting with the parents, i think they should be locked in a room with them and allowed to punnish them how ever they see fit.
But saying that, im also of the belief we should still have the death sentence to punnish those people that cant live as the rest of us do.

Put them in with the normal prison population and then they will be punished properly. Instead they will continue their perversions in the confined sanctity of their own kind.

With some luck they will be.

As news services go, and no I don't think much of it, these columns are policed with rigorous zeal.
Which rather makes them not worth the papar they are not written on.
