Drunk Woman At Station Highlights Dangers Of Festive Drinking

WATCH: Drunk Woman At Station Shows Dangers Of Festive Boozing

The British Transport Police (BTP) has released shocking footage of a woman falling onto train tracks to highlight the dangers of excessive drinking over Christmas.

The video of the incident, which occurred at Barnsley Station earlier in the year, shows an inebriated woman staggering off a train, only to stumble back and fall between the train and the platform.

The woman, who has not been identified, recovered after being taken to hospital with cuts and bruises, however trains to and from the station were delayed for more than 20 minutes.

Inspector Graham Bridges, of the BTP, said: "This woman was lucky to only end up with a few minor injuries and, had it not been for the alertness of other passengers who helped her, we could have been dealing with potentially serious injuries.

"We certainly do not want to spoil this and would simply ask that anyone drinking alcohol does so responsibly."

Bridges warned that officers posted to stations would not hesitate to take action against anyone acting in a criminal or anti-social manner.

The warning comes following a spate of anti-social incidents, which have blighted the train system in recent weeks.
