Meet The Kitten... From Hell! (Video)

Huffington Post UK   Alastair Plumb First Posted: 13/01/12 09:51 GMT Updated: 16/01/12 10:29 GMT

As regular readers will already know, cats are inherently a little bit creepy. In fact, it's almost a tautology to say "creepy cat" at all.

But this little kitty... this little kitty's gonna scare you. Think we're kidding? Click play on the video above and try not to jump out of your seat. A little bit, anyway.

In fact, YouTuber "MoonGrate" has even warned viewers about watching his video, calling it "Kitten from Hell (Don't watch if you're easily scared!)" - a fair warning if ever there was one.

So if you're drinking a hot drink, standing on one leg or carefully contructing the Eiffel Tower out of matchsticks and glue, stop what you're doing before you watch this video. Trust us, you'll be grateful for the advice.

I fundamentally reject the premise that cats are "creepy".

The only people who could possibly be scared by this are those who have never had anything to do with cats, and already dislike and/or are frightened of them! Anyone who has ever had a cat or kitten will have seen their eyes glowing in the dark before and recognize that for what it is.
As for the kitten's apparently hostile reaction to the camera, who knows what the photographer did to make the cat react like that....waving a live mouse in front of the cat, for example?
As for it being scary, well; sudden movements towards camera lenses are always a bit startling to the viewer - probably because of the their apparent proximity.

How utterly stupid! I have a feral kitten right now that I trapped about a week ago, took her straight to the vet in the trap and got her spayed, tested and vaccinated, but once I got her home and let her out, there was hell to pay. She nearly took my face off, clawed my hands and arms so deeply that I was gushing blood, and then flew under the bed. Amazingly enough, she seems to be fine with the other cats but the dogs are terrified of her. She is definitely going to take some very extensive rehab - she is a virtual demon at only about 8 weeks old and makes this video look tame. Too bad I don't have a video camera.

Why do you say "putting her down?" That sounds morbid. I have tamed thousands of feral cats and you'd think a kitten would be easier, but it's just the opposite. This little beast is going to take a very long time and may never be ready for adoption so may be stuck with her for life:)

CATS ARE NOT CREEPY!!!! They are smart, cunning and very very lovable. Did not like the video or the article following it. If you own or owned (sorry if you have ever been owned)by a cat yoy know what I mean.

How very much I agree. A cat is intelligent, lovable and reasonably loyal. If you ever come out to Crete, there are many ferral cats, who when they realise that you won't kick/hurt them, befriend you. This poor kitten looks desperately frightened - you can see the fear in its eyes. I didn't find this video funny at all, but I did think the person who recorded this incident must be very cruel. No wonder animals don't trust humans.

I agree with you. This person had to be tormenting the poor little thing. He did look terrified. I only have one left but feed a few strays. One will even come into the house,as long as I do not close the door he is fine. My boy seems to like him just fine. They rub noses and then he will leave. Now that it is cold I have a shelter for theur food and for them to get out of the cold. Love cats.

Am I the only one who actually got a fright from this video? You're a tough audience.

Well, actually it was the music that startled me...not the cat.

If you want to watch a good 'entertaining' video tap in 'Ninja cat' on youtube - brilliant and not faked either.

That first bit in the hallway was UFO footage...!!! That was about as scary as watching two tealights!

If any cat fanciers (or anyone else) want to see a really "make you laugh" kitty clip......go to the YouTube website and type in "surprised kitty" and watch something totally funny......one of those "aaawww soooo cute" clips that is genuine. If there is anyone that hasn't seen it, that clip was one of 2011 "viral videos".....a very baby feline reacting to having his tummy tickled. I'll bet you'll watch it more than once. Now if Huffington Post could just wait until they have something that is genuinely funny.....or charming.....and quiting grasping at any old thing, the board on pets would be a better place.

Love that clip. It was a runner-up on Animal Planet's "World's Cutest Cat" show. :)

As a cat lover, I was looking forward to being entertained for a few minutes......but this was just plain silly......an effort to be funny that didn't come off at all. Like many others I disagree with the word "creepy" and sure, those of us who know and understand cats could fill this board with a whole litany of kitty cat surprise antics, but this is just "trying too hard" to actually be amusing.

I agree I thought what a load of rubbish and I don't like the presumption that I and others "already know cats are inherently creepy" !!!!!
The person who wrote this rubbish is more creepy in my mind, trying to be funny has left them looking like the joke! and not only that, there`s enough cruel to animal mutters around without putting negative ideas in their already poisoned minds!
