Hewell is described as an open prison ...QED!

Anslow, the escaped prisoner was on remand accused of a particularly nasty murder. Not sure why he was at Hewell?

"My dear Driver, we should be pleased to have you to understand that we are quite unalterably determined to liberate your current passengers. In the rather implausible event that you should elect to refuse this request despite the impeccable politeness with which it has been delivered, we should have no practical alternative but to resort to quite shockingly violent modes of conduct. Please do not on inflict on us the severe and lasting emotional distress that such a necessity could hardly fail to entail."

- "My dear gentlemen, please do not trouble your minds with the quite unwarranted apprehension that I might ever possibly be found so unkind as to decline to accommodate such a reasonable, understandable, and indeed, perhaps even noble request. I only hope you have not needlessly muddied you shoes in your approach to my van, since I would surely have quite readily complied with instructions printed on a placard had you simply displayed one through your windshield."
