One In Ten Men Check Up On Their Partners Online

Before you air your dirty laundry online, or friend the hot guy you used to date in school on Facebook, think again.

One in ten men admit to hacking into their partner's online accounts, and using their passwords or PINs without their knowledge.

Lazy partners make it easy for these sneaky hacks to happen. 76% use the same password for multiple accounts from online shopping, to email, banking and social networks. 48% of those surveyed admit keeping their passwords written down, and stored electronically on the same devices they use to access confidential accounts.

The most popular password amongst those surveyed is their mother's maiden name with almost 20 per cent using this to access their accounts.

While it might seem somewhat innocent to look at your partner's Facebook profile, Facebook considers logging in as someone else to be a gross breach of privacy.

In a recent high profile case parents breeched their son's trust by looking at his Facebook page or logging on as him, and outing the young man's sexual orientation.

The top five worst or least secure passwords for 2011 include password, 123456, 12345678, qwerty and abc123.
