VIDEO: Little Red Riding Hood Gets Feminist Re-Make

Everyone knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood, right?

Maybe not. Some very early folk versions of the fairytale actually see our red-hooded heroine run away from the wolf, and even kill him herself. Go girl!

It was a shame but perhaps inevitable that over the centuries the narrative would come to include a big burly lumberjack coming to Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother's rescue, but thankfully, two innovative filmmakers have restored Red Riding Hood to her feisty self in Red, an animation on Vimeo.

Full of drama, suspense and plenty of gore, Jorge Jaramillo and Carlo Guillot have not only restored the feminist narrative of the original folk tales - but all the horror too.
