EDL Anti-Muslim Rally In Aarhus, Denmark Hopes To Start European Movement

UPDATE: Violence has broken out at the demonstration in Aarhus, after clashes between the EDL organised anti-Islam rally and far left supporters marching in opposition to the far right. Police have arrested 25 people.

Far right group the English Defence League is staging an anti-Islamic rally in the city of Aarhus in Denmark in the hope of building a comprehensive pan-European movement.

In a bid to "build stronger ties" with other far right groups across Europe, the EDL has proposed the formation of an European Defence League, fighting against the "Islamification of Europe."

A memorandum on its website states: "We are paralysed by moral relativism, political correctness, cowardly appeasement, strict self-censorship and self-loathing

"We are committed to countering extremism, wherever it be found.

"Individual Muslims may well have plenty to offer, but there is much about Islamic culture that we cannot stay silent about."

An anti-racism rally is expected to take place in protest, with thousands of demonstrators pledging to outnumber the far right supporters.

Pictures posted on Facebook and Twitter show that only around 100 protesters have turned out so far to support the EDL, with opponents of the far right group ridiculing the demonstration as "a damp squib."

Danish police have said that the two rallies are to be kept separate.

Although support for the anti-Muslim group was sparse, Matthew Goodwin, an expert in far right groups, said that taking the strategic step to unite European support is a significant one.

He told the BBC: "What we are seeing here for the first time in British political history is an anti-Muslim far-right organisation taking the lead in trying to mobilise pan-European opposition to Islam."

After an anti-racism concert in Aarhus last week, the mayor's office said that extremist groups like the EDL represent "everything we want to distance ourselves from”.

i say good on the edl, if polititians are unwilling to do anything about clear negative affect mass immigration is having on britain, and the rest of europe. im glad there is someone out there willing to force the issue.

ive always thought the huffingtonpost was a liberal left leaning site. but it seems like there is a lot of anti immigration comments on here. far more than there are in favour.

does this mean that there is now a concencus that multiculturalism doesnt seem to be working? especially when the cultures being absorbed have no intention of altering their behaviour to integrate into countries willing to take them in.

I know very little about the EDL however I have NOT seen it reported that they blew up any Tube trains, Busses, airports or attempting to bow up half a dozen Aircraft in the middle of the Atlantic flying from Britain to America. Few know the same was planned between Japan and America at the same time. This is clearly a big powerful movement that can organise all this.
I have not seen there EDL manual, however I am pretty sure that it doesnt say, "Convert the oppostion if they won't chop off their head'. I haven't seen them blow up one Mosque or Church, yet I have seen many Mosques blown up by Muslims on the holiest of days with worshippers inside. You get my meaning here.
On the one hand we keep on accusing them of being bad people for doing what many of us are wispering beghind our hands, yet liitle is being remembered about the many innocents that died, for what in London and New York?

So, all of a sudden Islam has become a race according to anti-racism groups, but will they now proclaim Christianity is also a race when under attack by Islamic extremists - dream on.

My view is well known, thousands of immigrants have come here, accepted our culture without complaint, demanded nothing except to be left in peace to find employment and raise their families. They are welcome, but our infrastructure cannot cope with a continued flood of unrestricted immigrants, who will need to educate, fed, employed, housed and medically cared for. The flow must stop.
Unwelcome though, are illegal immigrants and those who boast they will destroy our culture and religion, and who regard voting as a sin, they have no business here - In my opinion.

EDL Aarhus 2012.
The first casualty of war is truth. In this war, the war being waged against civilisation by Islam, truth is very much a casualty. Islam has its own version of the truth, but the worst abusers of truth are the anarchists and the anti-racist socialist liberals. The anarchists are really only interested in rioting and in gratifying their own need for self-righteousness. The self-deluded socialists are striving for an impossible open border, all inclusive, multicultural society where all beliefs, races and sexual orientations are tolerated. One of their allies however, the Islamists, has a totally different agenda that the liberals are too naive to recognise. They have been manipulated and duped into ignoring the fact that the followers of Islam murder and persecute, Christians, Jews, homosexuals, apostates, non-believers and socialists. The socialists and the anarchists will be dealt with by the Islamists when they are no longer useful.
The EDL are accused of being racist and fascist because they are anti-Islamist, yet Muslim is not a racial description. The EDL is opposed to racism and invites all of the victims of Islam to join them and oppose this intolerant, hateful and murderous religion. Far from being a Religion of Peace, Islam is a religion of war and of bigotry. Its message being submit or die.
To call the EDL racist is a lie and because of this lie anyone that supports them is automatically percecuted by the self-good powers that be.

Despite their track record, it is absurd how the fundamental debate on Islam and free expression here in the west is framed within a context of offence, racism and Islamophobia.
In some ways, these bogus accusations serve Islamism in the same way that Sharia law serves them where they are in power. It helps to threaten, intimidate and silence criticism and dissent. In my opinion, charges of offence and Islamophobia are the equivalent of secular fatwas.
The devious thing about using offence to silence people is that it is subjective. We’re not all necessarily offended by the same things. The religious are usually offended more often than not. And Islamists are offended all the time. They are offended if you are gay, if you are unveiled, if you leave Islam, if you listen to music, if you dance, if you have religiously unsanctioned sex, if you’re a woman, if you want to shake hands with a member of the opposite sex, and on and on.

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

Very prophetic @whrighty and a very measured response from the great man. Even after WW2 he openly admitted he had no fear of the Russians or the Chinese, his biggest fear was the rise of "unchecked" Islam. His praise of Moslems is there for all to see if they care to take the time and research, even of its time he could have got away with much more deflammatory language but as a war correspondent and prisoner in the Boer campaign he recognised the difference between the "splendid qualities" of the muslim individual but saw the danger of fundamentalist Islamics. Enough said

Criticism of religion is not racist. In fact open disagreement and the freedom to criticise tradition, culture and religion are essential for social progress. Turning a blind eye to the wrongs, threats and injustices committed by religion and religious states and laws is unfair to the innumerable people who are wronged, threatened and treated unjustly. No religion should be immune to criticism.

i try to please, just can not spell and never learnt English only that of the building site, so i have to do it Words and spell check if i want to make an important point? But happy as a lark Saints just stuffed Bath 26 to 6. Now going to prepare leg of Lamb and Roast Beef for Sunday tribal dinner with kids and grand kids?

But that is not what the EDL is about. The EDL members know nothing of Islam; they simply hate foreigners. They've been interviewed, and we've all seen them incoherently trying to frame sentences more complex than they've ever before tried to tackle in their sad little lives. And all that comes out is the basic bile that drives them on in their drunken rampages.

Sharia law has been allowed to exist in many areas of this country without our knowledge. Why is it allowed or tolerated? It's only a matter of time that muslims enforce their will and religion on this country. We must not be tolerant to Islam above our religeon, we are a Christian country for 1,500 years and should remain so. Of course we must embrace the Muslim people but not their fanatics.

So the Islamic guy shouting abuse at the poopy day parade gets off scott free but a Eglish rally has to go abraod to be heard. That just shows you where we have sunken to. It's a wonder the queen is allowed to have a celebration this year incase it upsets the muslim community. Where has our country gone.
