Madonna Becomes Most Successful Solo Artist Ever As MDNA Tops Album Charts

Madonna's MDNA went straight in at number one today, the singer's 12th album to top the UK charts.

The feat means the singer has beaten Elvis Presley's record of 11 chart-topping albums, making her the most successful solo artist ever in UK album charts, the Official Charts Company said.

The album's success will be welcome news for the singer, whose first single from MDNA, Give Me All Your Luvin', peaked at only number 37 when it was released in February, making it one of her biggest UK chart flops.

David Guetta held on to the number two spot with his album Nothing But The Beat. Last week's number one album, Paul Weller's Sonik Kicks, dropped to number 10.

Katy Perry's album Teenage Dream moved up 28 places in the chart to number six despite being in the chart for 83 weeks.

In the singles chart, Chris Brown's new single, Turn Up the Music, debuted at number one, knocking Katy Perry off the top spot. Perry slipped to number four with Part Of Me.

It is Brown's most successful-ever single in the UK. He reached number two in 2006 with Run It!

Tenor Noah Stewart became the first black musician to have a number one album in the classical chart with his debut Noah.

The album also entered the main album chart at number 14, the second highest new entry behind Madonna's MDNA.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: "This is a truly groundbreaking achievement for Noah Stewart.
"Most people naturally look to the singles and albums charts for the emergence of new talent, but Noah is sure to become a familiar name for years to come following this landmark breakthrough."

Its amazing how little talent is required to become a success and how real talent is ignored or sidelined.

Madonna is just a hyped-up, squeaky-voiced stripper, relying on her backing singers to keep in tune.

you are exactly right in your initial statement... for someone with no talent she has gone a long way...as for what it says about lipgate 5? I think it shows that they are correct in saying that you require little talent to get to the top... Madonna cannot sing, she cannot dance, she cannot act... also, I do believe that lipgate 5 is not parading around pretending that he/she can do any of these things (whether they can or not) so what you're saying is actually ridiculous.... Madonna is the prime example of a person who will literally do anything for money... her success is merely based on the fact that she uses shock tactics to engage people in much the same way as her immitator, lady gaga... personally I find it all frightfully boring but then again I am not part of the general consensus who buy her tripe... vile woman

Even the computer voice pitch cannot clean up her awful singing. I will go to my grave wondering why has this awful talentless tramp had so much fame and fortune. When there are far better who came before her and after. Shame on the World for allowing it.

When she want £300 to £500 per ticket to see her show I cannot see how people can do it, as someone has said got her album at knock down price. But as always you will have fan`s who will see no wrong in or with her, but we get that with lots of people as for me think she is over price over rated but her shows are good but that is why you have to paid so much for her ticket. would like to see her with out the show in the back ground then you will she if she can do a good job.

I'm not being funny right, I'm not being funny right, but in current times it don't take many sales to get to number 1, just about 40 to 50 thousand. Also I have seen the album was marked down to £4.99, for downloading, most places. Thats what I paid for it. So um, yeah.

£4.99 rubbish its a new album ,I would like to know were ? and on the 1st day it went on sale it sold 350,000 in the uk a bit different from 40 to 50 thousand on pre-orders alone it was the biggest selling album in tune history and with only and went to number 1 in 46 country's in only a few hours of going on sale so get your facts right.
