Dress 'Becomes Transparent When Wearer Is Sexually Aroused' (WATCH)

A dress that detects when the wearer is feeling amorous has been designed by an award-winning fashion.

Never mind embarrassing sweat patches or accidentally putting your clothes on back-to-front – this dress can tell whether you’ve got sex on the mind… and it could be coming to a high street near you.

The futuristic ‘Intimacy 2.0’ design is made of hi-tech fabric, leather and opaque e-foils and becomes transparent when it ‘detects’ a quickening heartbeat.

The technical dress, dubbed ‘techno-poetry’ by the designer himself, operates with the help of wireless technology, LEDs and various electronics.

Designer Daan Roosegaarde has won a string of awards for his designs, which all focus around human responses and is currently in talks to produce a ready-to-wear version of the Intimacy dress, which reveals when the wearer feels excited or embarrassed.

Talking about his saucy design, Roosegaarde told the Daily Mail: “Intimacy 2.0 is a fashion project exploring the relation between intimacy and technology.”

Technology is used here not merely functional but also as a tool to create intimacy as well as privacy on a direct, personal level which in our contemporary tech society is becoming increasingly important.”

Commenting on what she thinks of the dress, fashion assistant Catherine Hudson told HuffPost Lifestyle: "This looks like the ultimate fusion of fashion and art but, as with most things that fall into that category, I’m not sure what practical purpose this dress could serve.

"It wouldn’t be my partner’s cup of tea, so can’t see it ‘enhancing intimacy’ as the artist claims. And as for becoming invisible when embarrassed as well as turned on – I’d quite possibly be naked within seconds!"

Would you wear it?

I think this should be tested at Harvard, Oxford or someother fine University. I also believe they could make a university uniform, or cheerleader uniform for the prestigous women, so that us guys really know what they are thinking.......};]

The correct word to describe the dress' properties is translucent, not transparent.

Is it ...? Well, that sent me scurrying off to the dictionary and ... what do you know ... you're absolutely right! I've always believed translucency was a more glowing quality than that exhibited above. 'Shining through' ... ? I've obviously been too literal in my interpretation. Thanks for that - apart from anything else, it will help me no end with my curious hiccup when it comes to pronouncing 'transparent'. [72 years and, when I don't think first, I still talk about a trans-parent! Drives my family nuts!]

I wouldn't worry too much about the pronunciation, Wizzybar? There are rules in our language about it - to do with number and type of consonant before and after vowel/s and so on but there are so many exceptions that it can get confusing, especially in an ever more multicultural language environment. As long as meaning is clear, exact pronunciation is less important. I'm 75 and still mispronounce lots of words and am sure the fun will really take off when I start to get senile

Many things but passion excite a racing heart
There's fear and apprehension and that is just a start
So when in apprehension of any threatened rape,
The dress asserts "I'm willing", how will you escape?

Which a great deal more poetic than the dress.

What an ugly non arousing "Dress". What a pointless story.

News flash, the world revolves around this guy. Galileo was in error.

Men have never had a problem and generally have to hide their arousal in public. Looks like women will be allowed to show they are aroused in public but men would be arrested if they were obviously aroused.

Cobblers. you could be the ugliest, fattest person in the world and feeling randy in this dress would not help you one bit.

When I saw her I marveled greatly.

Just say yes. You don't have to advertise. Presumably this isn't designed to help you decide "am I aroused or not?" because if you do need such help then this won't help.

I have anxiety and it gives me a quickened heart rate and heart palpitations...I think detecting a quickening heart rate as arousal may not be the best idea
