Police Tape

Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body in an industrial bin.

Detectives in Southampton were called to the Empress Road Industrial Estate by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service at around 3.10am this morning.

They were dealing with a bin fire and discovered a body, police said.

A police spokesman said they did not have any further details at this time.

A section of Thomas Lewis Way remains closed and is likely to be closed for the remainder of the day. Diversions are in place.

The spokesman added: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience to motorists and will re-open the route as soon as possible."

Police are appealing for information, particularly anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in and around Empress Road Industrial Estate, off Thomas Lewis Way, overnight.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting Operation Waterloo.

Mini-Com users can call the police on 01962 875000.

Information can also be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

Proves yet again that life has little or no value in all societies. Once, this was the way of the so-called third world, is this is what the UK has now become? If so why did our so called governing bodies let it happen, and how do we get back to the life standards that had been enjoyed by our forefathers, many of whom gave their lives to protect our lifestyles, they must be wondering why they bothered.

What a horrible way to end your life burned in an industrial bin. May they Rest in Peace. This person was loved by someone. Man's inhumanity to man has become worse, even animals do not treat each other like that. What has this country come to once is was Great, with dignity and fairness - now that has all gone by the wayside. My consolences to the victim's family.

Why would any human being do this to another? Imagine the feelings of this person's family when they find out it's one of their loved ones. What has our society become?

Selfish people often can't get things in proportion. I guarantee that if an apology wasn't issued there would be complaints from someone.

No one deserves to be dumped in a bin and set fire to like a piece of rubbish.Who ever that unfortunate person was,may they now rest in peace

Abortion - another way of disposing potential humans by the thousands - rarely gets a mention these days.

Despite everything, life is 'not a cheap throwaway item'.

Is this really the place to be airing your agenda about abortion? Someone just died, you know.

How you can compare what has happened here with abortion is irrelevant.
You may have your opinions on terminating pregnancies. Women have them for many reasons and we should not judge them, their bodies are their own and they have the right to choose.
Just step off your soapbox and have some regard for the person who has just died in a horrible way.
You are not called Mad Mick for nothing are you? (sighs)
