Dr Jamal Raza told News Tribe: “One of the babies is not fully developed giving the present physical structure to the baby.”
The boy’s father, Imran Sheikh, issued a direct appeal to the government, stating: “I can’t afford to visit Karachi and get treatment for my baby.
“I appeal to philanthropists and the government to come forward for the treatment.”
Dr Raza added: “Surgery for treatment could be very complex. But the baby could be operated and if required we would call foreign expert doctors.
“This is a type of family disease which targets only one in 100,000 children.”

There would be more of this kind of babies in the Hoo Hess of Hey. Pregnant women on drugs. White and black. Late term abortions are snuffing the life out of these babies in the womb.
ihrams: There would be more of this kind of babies in
it doesnt take a surgeon to see that this baby is essentially normal except for the added limbs , this child has a chance of a normal life and there are surgeons who give theiir time unpaid to help children like these . i am sure the news value of the pictures could help with the other costs .i wonder if huffpost has had to pay for the photo and who has profited .
polarsteve: it doesnt take a surgeon to see that this baby
besides the point of the poor child...when the f*** will poverty-stricken family's keep having children its one of the most selfish acts in the world makes me sick that they have kids knowing full well they more than likely cant feed then let alone provide anything else argghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
racheyren: besides the point of the poor child...when the f*** will
Thank you Racheyren this is exactly the point I have been saying for years. It's such a selfish act to bring a child into the world knowing you can't provide even the most basic needs of life. Charities should focus on contraception and sex educaction rather than putting a bandaid on a perpetual cycle of death and suffering.
S69: Thank you Racheyren this is exactly the point I have
I think that is a rather racist remark, Bretzky1, I'm sure they love their baby just as much as any parents would regardless of what nationality they are.
Kraptonfactor: I think that is a rather racist remark, Bretzky1, I'm
Right, because killing children because they are born with defects and abnormalities has never happened.
Except, it's happened in every society all over the world. It was quite common in Europe during the Dark Ages for parents to abandon children who were born with defects because they felt they had been marked by the devil. They also did the same thing to twins, which, in many parts of Africa, are still regarded as the manifestations of evil spirits. And one of the places where it's still quite common for this stuff to take place is in South Asia, i.e., Bangladesh, India, and PAKISTAN.
Perhaps you should learn of which you speak before you open your mouth and accuse someone else of being a racist.
Bretzky1: Right, because killing children because they are born with defects
As a parent, I cannot even believe that people on here would begrudge this poor innocent baby a chance of surgery in the UK. Shame on all of you who ae so heartless and inhumane to not see the bigger picture. This is a child not a political toy.

While I don't begrudge this baby receiving treatment here may I just point out a few things.
We have many doctors and surgeons in the UK who are educated in India and Pakistan to the highest standards, we are not the experts in every medical and surgical field.
We already send monetary aid to both countries, not spent wisely enough by the recipients.
We have a shortage of special care baby units in the UK. Babies are constantly being transferred to other hospitals shortly after delivery because there are not enough places in the hospital where they were born.
If any of you had a sick baby of your own who could not be given urgent treatment because of a baby who has no connection to the UK taking precedent over it, I suspect you would not be feeling so generous.
Kraptonfactor: While I don't begrudge this baby receiving treatment here may
I agree that there is a shortage of SCBU in the UK. I know only too well what it is to be a parent of a child needing special care. I have 3 babies live today because of SCBU in 3 counties! So yes - I do know how it feels to be waiting for a space and that's why I do something about it by raising money for 2 different SCBU units.
The UK has an excellent track record in the separation of conjoined twins.
nwiggins: I agree that there is a shortage of SCBU in
You are right, eastlondon, we cannot treat every needy baby in the world, we already send aid to many countries, they should spend it more wisely, starting with healthcare for those most in need of it.
Kraptonfactor: You are right, eastlondon, we cannot treat every needy baby
I'm afraid this will start happening in the UK soon.
This is what happens when you only marry in the gene pool of your own family.
First cousins, marrying first cousins, marrying first cousins, marrying first cousins etc, something has to give.
DISGUSTED_WITH_COST: I'm afraid this will start happening in the UK soon.
The birth defect known as conjoined twins -- or in this case, vestigial twin -- does not come from inbreeding. It is also not rampant in any one ethnic group.
This birth defect can affect anyone's little zygote. It happens when the fertilized egg begins to split to create identical twins and somehow fails to complete the process. No one knows why, though toxins are suspected. It has been happening for literally thousands of years.
Sometimes the almost complete twins are joined at the head, sometimes at the torso. Sometimes they share a heart, a brain, a digestive system. Sometimes there are living twins with two heads, four arms and just one torso and two legs. Or, as in this little guy's case, one perfect upper body and two many limbs.
The only way this could be considered hereditary is that it might happen more often in families with a high rate of identical twins.
MJinCanada: That is called ignorance. The birth defect known as conjoined
We do too much for foreigners who hate us anyway.
why waste more of our money on them.
US taxpayers also get lumbered with other countries problems.
Pakistan has the money to pay for it anyway.
NOT OUR PROBLEM
BRITISHBULLDOG75: We do too much for foreigners who hate us anyway.
I totally agree with your comments, bring the child here to the UK - after all we known for our expertise in this type of Surgery. (WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO HELP)?
This is a tragic start to life......yes give that poor family a break
rowroann: I totally agree with your comments, bring the child here
ladylynchmere, we used to have the best health care system in the world, we don't anymore. What we do have is free healthcare at the point of delivery, paid for by the taxpayer. Unfortunately, this has been exploited by people all over the world, that's why the NHS is on it's knees. The US is better placed to do this type of surgery, they would waive the bill in order to get the kudos.
Kraptonfactor: ladylynchmere, we used to have the best health care system
If he were born in America, should socialized medicine be used to pay for fixing him, since his family have no money, clearly the compassionate thing to do for the poor innocent one, or should his parents be told that because his condition is pre-existing since birth it is not covered by their insurance? What, they don't have any insurance at all? They are therefore negligently responsible for the child's condition, and a law should be passed mandating everyone to buy insurance, whether they have any money or not. The hospital might volunteer to perform the operation probono, except that they cannot afford the liability insurance to protect themselves from suit if it didn't work out well. Perhaps Sheldon Adelson would pay for it, as a statement that nobody in America needs Obamacare?
jamesnpost: If he were born in America, should socialized medicine be
Unfortunately we don't have the privilege to think of much else when it comes to health. Considering ones health above costs is a privilege not all share. My son needs a medical test for a routine diagnosis. Our insurance recently changed and now a test that would have cost us $50-100 three months ago, Is now $900. The actual ost to a family without insurance would be $4000. We have a call into the doctor to explore less expensive options. He had no idea that the cost had risen more than nine times it's past cost.
While I would consider the birth of a child regardless of the condition a blessing and would do everything in my power to provide the best care... Money would come to mind. Most in the US are just one major illness or accident away from a real financial crisis (no home, cnstant debt collectors, etc). We are only tenuously middle-class and most know it all too well.
cichlid_mom: Unfortunately we don't have the privilege to think of much
jamesnpost, what goes on in that head of yours?
'a law should be passed mandating everyone to buy insurance, whether they have any money or not.'
How does one buy insurance without money? I'm sure we are all dying to know (pardon the really bad pun).
Kraptonfactor: jamesnpost, what goes on in that head of yours? 'a
The operative word here is "Irony" --- perhaps you should ask the Republicans in the US Congress that question, as their answer to US health care is to deny government assistance, and mandate the purchase of private insurance, upon penalty of fine in court if you show up sick or injured without it.
jamesnpost: The operative word here is "Irony" --- perhaps you should
Oh my what a sad situation. I often ask why such things happen to the most innocent of children who could hurt nothing or no one? This brought me to absolute tears and prayer. I hope this child can be saved and corrected and can lead a healthy, happy and prosperous life afterwords.
