Worried about levels of heart attack-inducing animals fats in your diet? Well, Chinese scientists have cloned a genetically modified sheep containing a ''good'' type of fat found naturally in nuts, seeds, fish and leafy greens, reports Reuters, to help reduce the risk of heart attacks and cardiovascular disease.

According to Boing Boing, the sheep was born in a laboratory in China's far western region of Xinjiang and can be seen on a video display at the Beijing Genomics Institute in Shenzhen, southern China.

Standard sheep fat causes heart attacks now? Certainly not natural animal fats, only when they are grain fed and not grass fed.

So, is it a sheep, a nut, a seed, a fish or a leefy green? What other genetic information have they unknowingly transferred into this poor creature?

Wow, I can't imagine how messed up things are there. I remember the recent problem with exploding fruit because they were injecting them with so much crap to make them grow super fast. Now they are doing it to animals. Never eat anything from China.

The picture shows the poor lamb in a dreadful state. How very cruel. British laboratories are bad enough and I shudder to think of what goes on in Chinese research labs where animal protection laws do not exist. The solution is simple. Forget your taste buds and don't eat animals.

Well said, this is so cruel. The chinese and Japanese are well known for animal cruelty. Eat your greens and stay healthy. Don't eat animals.

Rearing animals for food is simply not sustainable with the frightening rise of the human population Even if animals were stacked up in tiers like battery hens they still have to be fed. The land used to grow food for animals needs to be used to grow food for humans. There is light on the horizon for meat eaters. Meat is being grown in laboratories andf evidently it is no different in taste to animal flesh. It doesn't need to be fed with precious grain or soya and no animals will need to suffer and die in some hideous slaughter house.

It's a new born lamb - all newborns look dreadful.

I am not sure that genetically altering the fats in the sheep is the right thing to do. How about feeding it grass and letting it roam around, I think that would create a healthier sheep/meat source (not mint sauce!) all round.

Next step will be to replace it`s blood with mint sauce !!!
