Baby Found
The baby was found on a doorstep in a holdall, with a note written in Polish

Police have revealed that a newborn baby was discovered on a doorstep in Reading on Thursday evening.

The newborn girl was found in a holdall opposite the Polish centre on London Road. A note, written in Polish, was left with the girl.

Police received a call at 8.59pm yesterday, and officers believe the baby may have been left on the doorstep about an hour and a half earlier.

The two to three-week-old baby has been taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital and is under medical care. The police believe that she is unharmed.

They also added that they are particularly concerned about locating the mother of the child, who may be in need of medical help.

Superintendent Stuart Greenfield, from Thames Valley Police, said: "Early indications are that the baby appears unharmed, with no immediate evidence of any injuries or trauma.

"Our main concern now is for the welfare of her mother, who may need medical assistance.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything at the time, or may have any information, no matter how small, which could assist in identifying who left the baby.

While this baby was luckily found alive, it follows the discovery of a newborn boy's corpse at a Scunthorpe waste plant on Wednesday, and the disappearance of teenage mother Jasmine Woodbridge and her newborn son from Luton and Dunstable hospital on the same day.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Inspector Mark Tucker at Thames Valley Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are seeking the mother, possibly a female, in connection with this incident. It is important that mother and child are re-united so that social services can take the child off her again ... but they are confident they will find adoptive parents for the child before the decade is out.

Possibly a unwante child by a teen mother, didn't say it is only possible. Glad that the baby is fine and glad it was not to cold yesterday. I know what some people will think,b ut I do hope the mother is alright and if not seeks medical aid. More often than not when this happens, after a few days the mother sees sense and seeks medical help.
