George Michael

George Michael has railed against the British political establishment in an online rant, describing the Leveson Inquiry into press ethics as "bullsh**t" and criticising the Conservative party for "covering their lily white ar**es".

The 48-year-old former Wham! singer began his morning diatribe on Twitter by saying MPs who described Rupert Murdoch as unfit to run a major media company could be the "understatement of the year."

"And it's so funny that the Conservatives in government are defending him! Trying to cover their arses when those lily white buttocks.. of theirs are already on display for the whole world to see. Cameron must be the most cowardly PM we've seen for decade," he wrote on the social networking site.

Michael told his 415,560 followers that he had been invited to the Leveson inquiry but declined because it was "bulls**t."

"It has been several years since two hacking journalists were sent to prison for bugging the royal family. They remain the only people who have been tried in the criminal courts.

"After all these years, and all the crimes comitted [sic] by journos, editors, the police force and MPs, the best can do is 'enquiry' after inquiry, and no actual criminal prosecutions?" he wrote.

"Why on earth are the rights of the royal family more important than those of Milly Dowler's parents, or of any of the hundreds of people whose lives have been violated by the press?," he asked across several tweets.

"Shame on our political system for it's refusal to take this further. The day they make this sham real and start genuinely prosecuting people."

The pop superstar isn't all about hating: In March, Michael found a musical way to say thank you to the doctors and nurses who restored him to health when he was stricken with pneumonia at the end of 2011, donating a thousand tickets to the medical staff from the city's hospital, who treated him when he was ill.

The Huffington Post has contacted George Michael's publicist to check the verified Twitter account has not been hacked.

He's absolutely right.

2 real prosecutions of those involved is laughable.

The Tories suddenly deciding that the inquiry has been fine and Murdoch doesn't really need to be criticised that much... can't believe they are back kowtowing to him already! Pathetic.
