Glasgow University Apologises After Students Unable To Enrol With £14m MyCampus System

Glasgow University has been forced to apologise to its students after spending £14m on a new online system which has left pupils unable to enrol.

MyCampus, which replaced the Russell Group university's existing enrolment system WebSurf, was described by one student as "a giant turd".

A spokesperson for Glasgow University said: "We have experienced technical difficulties with our registration system and would like to apologise to those students affected. We urgently investigated and believe we have resolved the problem.

"We are now rigorously testing the system and until we are confident that registration can continue without any difficulties, we have closed the system to students. We ask for their continued patience and will send all students an e-mail notification when they can access the system."

The university spent millions developing the new system, only for frustrated students to vent their anger and frustration at the apparent incompetence of MyCampus.

Another student tweeted:

There are more than 16,000 undergraduates and 6,000 postgraduates at the university, which will be charging students starting this September up to £9,000 in tuition fees.
