International Emmy Nominations: 'Absolutely Fabulous' Earns A Nod For 20th Anniversary Return

Crack open the Bolly - the return of Absolutely Fabulous has been nominated for an International Emmy.

Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley reprised their roles as outrageous shopaholics Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone in three specials to celebrate the sitcom's 20th anniversary.

The BBC1 episodes have been nominated for best comedy, alongside Sky 1 drama Spy, starring Darren Boyd and Robert Lindsay, about a 30-something man who is accidentally recruited as a trainee spy for MI5.

Other British shows nominated for awards at next month's event in New York include Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die, for best documentary.

The best-selling author, diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2008, looked at how he might choose to end his life in the BBC2 programme.

British star Jason Isaacs has been nominated for best actor for his role in Case Histories, the BBC1 detective drama series.

Charlie Brooker's satirical three-part Channel 4 drama Black Mirror is up for best mini-series.

Meanwhile, CBeebies show Octonauts, CBBC programme Newsround, BBC1 drama Lost Christmas and The Amazing World of Gumball (Turner Broadcasting) have all been nominated for the first International Emmy Kids Awards.
