What will Google look like in the future?

According to one London-based design firm, it might not be on your computer, phone or tablet - but in light itself.

A two-year design project with Google to rethink computer interfaces has turned up a remarkable series of inventions and ideas which could revolutionise future technology.

The 'Lamps' project imagined - and built - lights that can 'see' objects in front of them, and react intelligently to what they see.

"We were both curious about how it would feel to have Google in the world with us, rather than on a screen," writes Matt Jones at Berg.

"If Google wasn't trapped behind glass, what would it do?"

The results were objects that can interact with Google services despite having no electronics of their own, and lamps that can 'read' magazines and present relevant information to a reader.

Take a look at the videos above and below for more details - while the products aren't ready for prime time just yet, they point the way for some really exciting times ahead.
