Silvio Belusconi To Pay Ex Wife Veronica Lario £82,000 A Day In Divorce Settlement (PICTURES)

£82,000 A DAY

Italy's former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is to pay £30m a year to his ex-wife Veronica Lario, as part of a divorce settlement filed on Christmas Day, the BBC reported.

The ruling said Lario, the mother of Mr Berlusconi's three children, must be permitted to "live in the manner that she was accustomed to during her marriage" and it also noted she was "without a home as part of the settlement". Berlusconi has kept the couple's £64m villa.

Lario left her husband in 2009 after he attended the 18th birthday party of aspiring model Noemi Letizia.

"I was really surprised, since he [Berlusconi] never came to any of his children's 18th birthday parties, despite being invited," Lario told La Repubblica at the time.

Two years earlier, she had written an open letter to that same Italian newspaper, demanding public apologies from her husband after he courted a future minister in his government, Mara Carfagna, on national television.

Berlusconi told former showgirl Carfagna, 37: "If I wasn't married I would marry you straightaway."

Berlusconi, the country's longest-serving post-war prime minister, is currently engaged to 28-year-old Francesca Pascale and preparing to run for office again in 2013.

Berlusconi was Italy's longest-serving post-war prime minister until he resigned in November 2011.

He says he will to run for office again in 2013, despite being sentenced to four years in jail in October 2012 for tax evasion. He is free while currently appealing the sentence.
