Body Of Suspected Burglar Found Trapped In Chimney

The body of a suspected burglar has been found in the chimney of a firm of solicitors in Derby.

A pest control expert found the body in the chimney of Moody and Woolley solicitors on St Mary's Gate in the city centre after being called in to investigate the source of flies and a "horrendous" smell seeping through the office.

Builders fixing the roof as long as six weeks ago noticed slates had been removed around the chimney. Staff at the office are said to be "upset" by the discovery, especially as there was nothing left in the office overnight worth stealing.

The man has been named by police as 42-year-old Kevin Gough, of no fixed address.

Martina Longworth, a partner at the firm, told the BBC: "It must have been quite a terrible way to die for the poor man and it must be very distressing for his family.

"We would be most concerned for them. It's very sad."
