Royal Baby: Daily Mail Attacks BBC's 'Overkill' Coverage (In Its 21-Page Souvenir Edition)

Daily Mail Attacks BBC's 'Overkill' Royal Baby Coverage

The Daily Mail devoted the first 21 pages of Wednesday's paper to the Royal Baby - and attacked the BBC for its 'over-the-top' coverage.

The 'magical picture souvenir' edition included a 10-photo slideshow, analysis of Kate's 'bump', breastfeeding speculation and an open letter to Kate Middleton's mother.

And on page 13, underneath a column by Amanda Platell wishing it had been a baby girl, it posed the question: "Was the BBC over the top?"

The BBC, along with Sky News, has had rolling reports from outside the hospital where Kate gave birth.

The Mail said the corporation had received hundreds of complaints from viewers that its coverage had been "sycophantic" and "overkill".

Journalist Jules Mattsson posted a video on Vine that quickly became a Twitter hit.
