Disney Princesses Web Video Turns The Idea Of Women Being Rescued By Men On Its Head (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Snow White's in trouble, but refreshingly, there's no Prince Charming clip-clopping to the rescue on his shiny white horse.

Instead, the web video Black Ops: Disney Princesses turns the idea of stereotypical Disney women on its head: the ones to rescue her are Belle, Jasmine and Ariel. The premise is that they are CIA Black Ops fighting international terrorists.

The acting is a bit questionable (but hey, it is a fledgling web series) but we appreciate any effort to show the younger generation of girls and women that Disney princesses don't have to be saps who rely on a man in a fix.

Thanks goes to Jezebel for flagging it up.

The website quoted creator Taylor Lasley as saying: "I came up with the idea because, well, what little girl didn't want to be a princess, and then subsequently grow up to want to save the world? The video is like a fantasy for those nostalgic of the 80s and 90s classic princesses (i.e everyone).

"The whole reason I wanted to make this was because women don't need Prince Charming to make shit happen - ain't nobody got time for that."
