George Osborne turned down a bit of a man's pie on Friday.

The chancellor was visiting Bolton when he was approached by local Champak Fakira who asked if he wanted to share his freshly bought meat and potato pie. The Bolton News reports that Osborne politely declined to take a bite. "Thank you but I am going to be eating a bit later,” he said.

Fakira said he did not mind that his offer had been spurned. He said: "I’m not offended that he didn’t want any of my pie, I am off to eat it now.”

As we know, Osborne is more partial to a Byron burger. And of course David Cameron has been revealed as a Nandos fan - half chicken with hot Peri Peri sauce, coleslaw and a regular order of fries accompanied by a glass of red wine.
