The Brazilian city of Manaus, the host of England’s opening World Cup game, has declared a state of emergency. According to AP, flooding has been caused by a swell in a tributary of the Amazon River just weeks before the start of the tournament.

According to Manaus city hall spokeswoman Jacira Oliveira, the state of emergency is just a preventative measure and should not affect the Arena Amazonia stadium that will host four games, including England’s group clash against Italy on June 14 and the United States vs. Portugal on June 22.
