One student has been left in a state of constant surprise after getting fake eyebrows tattooed permanently onto her face, as she was tired of the "daunting" daily regime of plucking, shaving and painting her eyebrows.

Sarah, a 24-year-old student from who lives in Leicester, says her brows give her a look of constant surprise. Not only has she described getting the tattoos as excruciating, but she now admits that perhaps it was a mistake.

"I was shocked when I first looked in the mirror," Sarah explained. "But the tattooist said 'they'll fade'. Now they look like they've gone blue."

Sarah, who has said she now finds her appearance embarrassing, took to national television, appearing on the Channel 4 show 'Bodyshockers', where she initially hid the horror brows under her fringe.

The natural blonde said: "Having the tattoos was excruciating. I told the tattooist I wanted black eyebrows but I didn't think they would be this black. I don't know what I was thinking."

The student had to die her hair dark brown and cut a fringe because they previously stood out so much.

She added: "It was supposed to be a quick fix so I didn't have to do all this plucking, shaving and painting them on. But now before I leave the house I have to spend ages doing hair to make sure they can't be seen."

Things have got worse for Sarah as they have since faded, turning blue. Her daily routine now takes even longer than before because she is forced to paint over them with an eyebrow pencil.

Celebrities such as Cara Delevingne and the Duchess of Cambridge, with their bold, defined eyebrows, have been cited as a source of inspiration among many appearance conscious girls.
