Forrest Gump Runner, Ewan Gordon, Completes 42 Marathons In 42 Days

Real Life Forrest Gump Runs 42 Back-To-Back Marathons

A man dressed as Forrest Gump has ran the equivalent of 42 back-to-back marathons over 42 days.

Ewan Gordon, from Oxfordshire, ran 26 miles a day to complete his 1,050 mile journey from John O'Groats to Land's End.

He ran in memory of nine-year-old Thomas Laurie, who died last year from Cockayne Syndrome -- a rare premature ageing condition that affects around 10 children in the UK.

In January, Gordon told Buckingham Today: "Thomas was full of fun, since doing this fundraising I have met lots of kids with cockayne syndrome and they all only know how to love.

“There is no cure, so my plan is to run the length of the country making as many people aware of this condition as possible."

Gordon, who grew out his beard and dyed his hair to emulate Gump, said the idea of running as the famous film character came about when people said they'd give him more sponsorship money if he did it.

Thomas' mum, Catherine, said: "Tom was very much a life is for living type of person, so I think he would be very amused by Ewan’s transformation."

So far, Gordon has raised over £1,000 for Lifelites, a charity that provides specialist entertainment, educational and assistive technology to children with life-limiting conditions.
