Confederate Flag Truck Parade Gets Heavy Dose Of Karma

Heavy Dose Of Karma Hits Confederate Flag Truck Parade

There has been a heated debate in the US since the shooting of nine black churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina.

Much of that conversation has centred around the symbolic role of the Confederate flag, which until recently flew over

the statehouse.

Many Southerners consider the flag to be a symbol of patriotism, completely ignoring the racist undertones it gained as symbol of the Southern army which tried to secede from the United States so they could keep using slave labour.

And as this video shows, many still have no qualms about flaunting it.

Jon Stewart perfectly summed up why it's time for everyone to stop using the flag. "They fought for the South against the United States because of slavery. That's the heritage you're defending.

"I'm sure your soldier ancestors had other redeeming qualities, but this is the thing that they're known for," he said. "It’d be like saying you support flying the Nazi flag because you’re proud of their robust anti-smoking agenda. But that wasn’t really their thing."
