'Top Gear': Zoe Ball To Join Chris Evans On New Series Of BBC Show?

Zoe Ball has been named as a front-runner to join the new ‘Top Gear’ presenting team.

The British TV personality, who currently fronts ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ spin-off ‘It Takes Two’, has reportedly impressed producers with her enthusiasm for cars, as well as her chemistry with co-presenter Chris Evans.

A source tells The Mirror: “Zoe looks like a certainty after the screen tests.

“She’s a complete professional and of course has a long history of working with the BBC on radio and television so she has known Chris a long time. Things immediately clicked into place and there was a lightbulb moment among producers.

“The chemistry between Zoe and Chris is perfect.”

Zoe’s impressive credentials include stints presenting ‘Top Of The Pops’, ‘The Big Breakfast’ and children’s Saturday morning show, ‘Live & Kicking’.

After being appointed Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘Top Gear’ replacement earlier this year, Chris revealed he was keen for a woman to join the show as his co-host.

Since then, Jodie Kidd, Sue Perkins and Suzi Perry have all been named as potential candidates for the presenting gig, though they have all since denied involvement in the show at some point or another.

Other presenters whose names have been linked to the rebooted series include Phil Glenister, Will Mellor and Formula 1 racer, Jenson Button.

‘Top Gear’ is thought to be returning in the new year, with reports suggesting it will act as direct competition to Jeremy Clarkson’s new Amazon Prime show, which he is co-hosting with former ‘Top Gear’ presenters, Richard Hammond and James May.
