Basil Brush

The UK's most famous fox

Basil Brush is a star with an outstanding ability to make people of all ages laugh and smile. He’s cheeky, irreverent, charming, naughty, quick-witted, scheming and foxy, but at the same time he’s kind, caring and affectionate.

Basil has celebrated over 50 years in entertainment; The Basil Brush Show ran for an incredible 14 series during the 60s and 70s and was sold into more than 14 countries worldwide. The Basil Brush Show was BAFTA-nominated in 2006 and was voted the best comedy on the BBC by kids whilst being watched by over 1.4 million per week. The sixth series of The Basil Brush Show is still repeatedly shown on CBBC and of course Youtube!

In 2007, Basil set to the stage in the first of three nationwide theatre tours worthy of an Oscar! These included The Fox Factor, Basil Of The Caribbean and the musical High Skool Mania. Pleasure Island theme park in Cleethorpes became a regular fixture in Basil’s entertainment diary in 2007, in the first of three summer residencies set up at the park in his never-ending mission to entertain the nation!

Basil started 2008 on a high, co-hosting the one-hour live Saturday morning show Basil’s Swap Shop, which during its 10-week run was a top 10 show on BBC2.
2009 was celebrated with live appearances at Butlins holiday parks, on guest stops on The Paul O’Grady Show, and playing a celebrity judge in the BBC’s Comic Relief Stars In Their Eyes fund-raising special. 2010 was a bumper year for the fox on the box: Basil’ s Swap Shop returned for a third series; he appeared on The 5 O’clock Show as a special guest, and his suave charm awarded him the prestigious position as host at the Children’s BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.

He is a celebrity in high demand and often shows up in the most unexpected places. Further appearances include The One Show, Easy Peasy Eco-Beebies, The Weakest Link (which he won!), Fame Academy, Blue Peter and many more. He even popped up Down Under to win the Australian game show Talking Bout Your Generation - proving that he is the smartest fox on the box!

He has starred as Alderman Foxwarren in Theatre Royal Plymouth’s production of Dick Whittington with Chris Biggins, The baron in Cinderella at the Birmingham Hippodrome with Brian Conley and last year was the genie at The Theatre Royal Windsor in Aladdin.
