Laura McCartan Final year history undergraduate at the University of York

Laura McCartan is a final year history undergraduate at the University of York. When working as a long term volunteer for the Rosie May Memorial Fund in Sri Lanka, her time is spent teaching English and playing games with the girls in the orphanage as well as helping to accommodate other volunteers. She is passionate about female empowerment, particularly for the girls she works with, and the importance of education in international development. When she’s in the UK, Laura likes substituting meals for jars of peanut butter, and her iPod.
