After much speculation, poor quality pirate uploads and innovative marketing strategies, the first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's third (and final) Batman epic The Dark Knight Rises (2012) has finally hit the web, with Tom Hardy's villainous Bane in tow. And in my opinion, it was certainly worth the wait.

Following on from the intriguing poster launched earlier this week, the trailer takes us back to the events of Nolan's initial effort, 2004's Batman Begins, as we catch a glimpse of Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne trekking through the Tibetan wastes in search of the enigmatic Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson).

I won't spoil the events of Batman Begins for anyone yet to see it (you know who you are), needless to say there is a lot of back story left for Nolan and his screenwriting partner David S. Goyer to get their teeth into.

Unlike other film critics, I'm not going to delay you with a lengthy description of just what the trailer has in store for your feverish fanboy/girl eyes. Yes, we see Tom Hardy's Bane; no, we don't as of yet get our first glimpse of Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle/Catwoman...is there any more you really need to know?

Without further ado, I present the first OFFICIAL teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, the finale to Nolan's blockbusting Batman trilogy - enjoy!
