David Cameron flew to Lanzarote on Thursday for a family holiday in the Canaries. The PM posed for a couple of snaps with SamCam at the start of the trip in exchange for the press leaving him alone for the rest of his Easter Break.

British media organizations usually fall into line with these types of agreement. Twitter, however does not. And Lanzarote is a busy place…

Hamilton, a rugby player for Scotland, was asked by a Tory blogger what the PM was up to. "Eating paella," he replied.

Cameron missed the last day of parliament on Thursday, telling fellow MPs he needed "time to think."

The trip comes just weeks after Cameron had urged Britons to stay in England and holiday in the areas ravaged by floods earlier in the year.

One Labour MP attacked the PM on Friday for the apparent double standard.

Sue Hayman said “Although Parliament is still going about its business, David Cameron couldn’t be more keen to escape the mess his Government has presided over.

“Escaping his Budget shambles with a budget flight abroad, this part-time Prime Minister seems keen to put as much distance between himself and his Chancellor as possible.

“Despite pleas for others to holiday at home, supporting tourist areas recently hit by flooding like Cumbria, it’s clearly one rule for him and another for everyone else.”
